I’m Patrick Gratão, a Senior Software Engineer specializing in frontend architecture, accessibility and web performance. Since 2015 I’ve been turning business problems into products that are simple to use and easy to evolve.

The architecture and boilerplate I built at Big Brain power more than 15 applications and cut the development cycle from ~2 months to 15 days.

I write code that lasts

I standardize modules, layers and data flows, with accessibility and Core Web Vitals defined from the architecture up. Any engineer can switch projects without friction.

I turn technical detail into decisions

I speak the same language as clients, product and engineering, in Portuguese or English. I’ve been the technical point of contact for clients in Italy and Spain, led a team as project lead and agile facilitator, and today I guide architecture decisions that other engineers build on.

01 - About me

I started in 2015, maintaining the systems of the Federal University of Goiás, and never stopped taking things apart to understand how they work.

I’ve worked in full-stack development, e-commerce for 18 clients in six countries, and educational products that now serve more than 1.5 million students. At Big Brain, a Microsoft partner, I was promoted from mid-level to Senior Software Engineer and became the company’s reference for frontend architecture.

I work with React, Next.js, TypeScript and Node.js. I live in Goiânia, Brazil (UTC-3), and use English every day at work.

2023 - present

Senior Software Engineer - Big Brain

Mid-level 2023–2025 · Senior since 2025

I joined as a mid-level developer and was promoted to senior as I took on architecture and technical leadership. I designed the company’s frontend architecture, inspired by MVVM and Domain-Driven Design principles, and the boilerplate adopted by more than 15 applications and nine engineers. I define the accessibility, quality and performance standards used in products for major education companies in Brazil.

2021 - 2023

Frontend Developer - Codeby

I built e-commerce for 18 clients across six markets: Italy, Spain, England, Australia, Portugal and Brazil. I was the dev lead responsible for the frontend of two products for Italy and Spain, from requirements refinement to production follow-up, working directly with clients in English.

2020 - 2021

Full-Stack Developer - Poli

I took technical and delivery ownership of a complete product: an omnichannel platform that brought WhatsApp and Instagram into a single screen for small and medium businesses. As project lead and agile facilitator, I coordinated a frontend and backend team, setting priorities, tracking deliveries and removing blockers.

2015 - 2020

Before that

Full stack at GRT Resultados Digitais (2018–2020), web developer at the Federal University of Goiás with Ruby on Rails, PHP and Postgres (2015–2017), and co-founder of Level 5, UFG’s computer science junior enterprise.
